A fast-talking young entrepreneur convinces the gruff owner of an old
donut shop in a rapidly-gentrifying Chicago neighborhood that he can
modernize the place to attract new customers. Based on the 2008 play by
Tracy Letts, Superior Donuts focuses on Arthur Przbyszewski, a donut
shop owner, and Franco Wicks, his new young employee, and the
shop's various patrons--among them cops Randy DeLuca and James
Jordan. Randy's late father was Arthur's best friend; Tush is a colorful
customer who uses the shop counter to work various odd jobs; and
Sweatpants is Franco's long-time friend who's willing to dress as a
donut to attract more business to the shop. Arthur's neighbor, aspiring
realtor Fawz, always pushes Arthur daily to sell the building to him,
but to no avail. As obstacles gradually begin to mount over the course
of the series, Arthur begins to realize the value in embracing the
change around him and that Franco is exactly what he needs to thrive.
